The Holy Qur’an: A Light That Guides the Hearts
The Holy Qur’an is the Word of Allah. It was revealed as mercy, guidance, and light for humanity. It is the greatest book known to mankind, and Allah has promised to preserve it until the Day of Judgment.
Allah Almighty says:
“Indeed, this Qur’an guides to that which is most upright.”
(Qur’an 17:9)
The Qur’an is not simply a book that we read. It is a way of life. In it, we find guidance when we are confused, patience when we are tired, hope when we are sad, and peace when life becomes difficult.
When a person reads the Qur’an with a sincere and attentive heart, its verses can remind them that Allah is always near, knows what is hidden in the heart, and is aware of every difficulty we experience.
Allah Almighty says:
“Surely, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find comfort.”
(Qur’an 13:28)
One of the most beautiful things a Muslim can do is to establish a daily connection with the Qur’an, even if the amount is small. What matters is consistency. Reading a few verses every day is better than reading a large amount once and then stopping.
You can begin with one page after a prayer, or a few verses in the morning and evening. With time, Qur’an recitation can become a beautiful habit and a source of peace that the heart looks forward to every day.
The Qur’an also teaches us patience. When we read the stories of the prophets and righteous people, we see how they faced trials and difficulties while remaining confident in Allah.
The story of Prophet Yusuf (Joseph), peace be upon him, teaches us that sadness may last for a long time, but Allah’s relief comes at the time He chooses. The story of Prophet Musa (Moses), peace be upon him, teaches us not to surrender to fear when we place our trust in Allah.
The Qur’an also teaches mercy, honesty, kindness to parents, helping those in need, forgiveness, good speech, and staying away from injustice and wrongdoing.
Allah Almighty says:
“And say, ‘My Lord, increase me in knowledge.’”
(Qur’an 20:114)
The Qur’an encourages us to learn, reflect, and do good deeds.
Our relationship with the Qur’an should not be limited to times of sadness. The Qur’an is our companion in every situation: during happiness and sadness, strength and weakness, health and hardship, and throughout every stage of life.
Keep the Qur’an close to your heart. Listen to a peaceful recitation when you need comfort, read whatever you can, reflect on the meanings of its verses, and try to apply its teachings in your daily life.
Remember that every step toward the Qur’an is a step toward goodness. You may begin today with just one verse, and with time, you may find that the Qur’an has become a beloved part of your life.
O Allah, make the Noble Qur’an the spring of our hearts, the light of our chests, the comfort of our sadness, and the relief of our worries.
O Allah, grant us the blessing of reciting the Qur’an day and night, understanding its meanings, reflecting upon it, and living according to its guidance.
O Allah, make us among the people of the Qur’an, those who are honored and beloved to You.
Ameen, Lord of the worlds.
